  • also known as Leonardo of Pisa (he was born there)[1]

  • regarded as "the greatest genius of number theory during the 2000 years between Diophantus and Fermat."[1]

  • he was a cool guy.

  • studied mathematics in Egypt, Syria, Greece, Sicily and Provence.[1]

who cares?

  • he wrote Liber Abbaci, which brought these useful symbols to Europe:[1]
